Providing Safe and Stable Housing

The first step in supporting young mothers is ensuring they have a safe place to stay. Please help us reach our goal of $1 Million to purchase and furnish our First Home. Many young women face homelessness or unstable living conditions during pregnancy. Our upcoming shelter will offer offer:

  • Private rooms that provide privacy and comfort

  • Nursery rooms connected to mothers room

  • A secure environment where moms and babies can feel safe

  • Access to basic necessities like food, clothing, and hygiene products

Having a stable home reduces stress and allows young mothers to focus on their health and their baby's well-being.

Offering Emotional Support and Counseling

Pregnancy can bring a mix of emotions, from joy to anxiety. Many young moms struggle with feelings of isolation or fear. Our shelter provides:

  • One-on-one counseling with trained professionals who understand the challenges young mothers face

  • Support groups where moms can share experiences and build friendships

  • Guidance on coping strategies for stress, depression, or anxiety

This emotional support helps young mothers feel understood and less alone during a vulnerable time.

We also host educational workshops that cover topics such as breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum health plus more. These resources empower young mothers to make informed decisions for themselves and their babies.

Building Life Skills for Independence

Preparing for life after the shelter is a key part of our program. Our goal is to help young moms develop skills that will support their independence, including:

  • Parenting classes that teach practical baby care and child development

  • Financial literacy workshops covering budgeting, saving, and managing expenses

  • Job readiness training such as resume writing, interview practice, and career planning

By gaining these skills, young mothers increase their chances of securing stable employment and housing in the future.

Creating a Supportive Community

Isolation can be one of the hardest parts of young motherhood. Our shelter will foster a sense of community by:

  • Encouraging peer support through group activities and social events

  • Connecting moms with local resources like childcare, education programs, and legal aid

  • Involving volunteers and mentors who provide guidance and friendship

This network helps young mothers build lasting relationships that extend beyond their time at the shelter.

Education opportunities

Many young mothers who stays at our 24 month transitional home will have the opportunity to to achieve educational opportuinities while living in our home. We plan to partner with local colleges an/ or trade school for sponsored opportunities.

For example:

  • The opportunity of graduating with an Associates degree( 2 yr program)

  • The opportunity of graduating from a local trade school(2 yr program). Walking away with a Certificate in their field of choice.

These options help each mom walk away with a career set in place, having an income and education they never had before entering into the program.
